CMIC Hosts Delegation from Taiwan’s Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry Technology and Development Center (PITDC)

The Chinese Medicine Industry Council of Australia (CMIC) recently welcomed an official delegation from Taiwan’s Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry Technology and Development Center (PITDC). The information-exchange meeting focusing on Chinese medicine industrial policies and practices was held on September 2, 2024 in Sydney.

CMIC’s Head of Secretariat, Ms. Emily Hung, opened the meeting by welcoming the delegation led by Section Chief Shin-chen Lai from the Department of Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Taiwan. During the meeting, CMIC President Dr. Max Ma and Ms. Shin-chen Lai delivered detailed presentations on the development status of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) governing policies in both regions.

Key participants from CMIC included Vice President Prof. Yifan Yang, Founding member Mr. S.L. Tam, Life members Mr. Steve Saint, Ms. Carmon Pang, and Admin Officer Ms. Emma Zhang. The Taiwanese delegation also comprised senior officers Ms. Patty Wang, Ms. Judy Chen, and Dr. Chinhwa Cheng from PITDC; Mr. Liang-Ying Chou and Dr. Dempsey from the Taiwan Pharmaceutical Manufacturer’s Association (TPMA); as well as representatives from Chuan Feng Tang Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Kenny Tsai, Ms. Maria Lee, Mr. Scott Tsai, and Mr. Brian Lin from Ming Gian Health.

Australian experts in therapeutic goods, including Dr. Chris Bai, Dr. Sue Qu, Dr. John Jiang, and Wiselink Managing Director Sunny Zeng, also contributed their professional insights during the discussions.

The meeting, which extended an hour longer than planned, proved to be highly informative, productive, and comprehensive. It established a strong foundation for future collaboration in the Chinese medicine supply chain.
